I am a freelance web designer and developer. I love what I do and it shows in my work. With a solid technical background and an aptitude for design, my advantage to my clients is a rare combination of technical expertise and creativity. Call me a creative geek or technical designer.
I can design beautiful responsive websites from scratch and create simple WordPress sites that are easy to update. I can also build a fully customized web application—in Drupal, WordPress or PHP/MySQL—to store, process and display your unique data, for example: trip lists, products, death notices, alpacas or plants. Because I started out several years ago when web designers had to know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL, I understand what's going on behind the scenes in content management systems. This allows me to customize your website to look and work the way you want it to. You are not bound by a WordPress theme! I'll help you think outside the box.
Trudy Pogue, B. Math
I have a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science and Combinatorics & Optimization from the University of Waterloo, Ontario. My varied background includes web design and development, graphic design, computer programming, software planning and support, product research and integration, writing and technical writing. Before starting my own business in 2004, I spent two and a half years at Corel Corporation working as a technical writer producing user manuals, online Help and tutorials for graphics software. During this time, I developed my creative side while enhancing my technical knowledge and writing ability.
When the web design industry wasn't changing so rapidly, I had time to also do some freelance writing. My work has been published in the Haliburton County Echo, Minden Times, County Voice and other publications, as well as in various newsletters and magazines. While I don't write professionally anymore, my writing ability and attention to detail come in handy for editing and organizing my clients' web content and developing documentation.
In my spare time you'll find me outdoors—running, cycling, canoeing, camping, hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing—and taking pictures! I am one of the founders of Katie's Run for Epilepsy and I also volunteer for the Haliburton Highlands Writers' and Editors' Network, the Pregnancy Care & Family Support Centre, Connexus Church and events such as the Ontario Summer/Winter Games and the annual Haliburton Dogsled Derby.
